Breakfast/Snack Ideas 04: Berry-good Smoothie

If you're on the run for breakfast, or need a mid-day pick me up ... this nutrit ious smoothie is something t o try.  In addition to the goodness of yogu rt and berries, t his smoothie has ground cinnamon,  ground turmeric, and chia seeds. You  will notice me using turmeric in a few other recipes too . I don't just use it for cooking, I add it to some drinks too e . g . this recipe. Turmeric has natural anti-inflammatory and other medicinal properties.  Everything goes into a blend er , hit the button, and you're don e. This recipe serves 2 tall glass es of Berry-good Smoothie.     H appy trying, and remember to have fun in the kitchen! Ingredients: 1 cup of whol e milk 1 and 1/2 cups of Greek yogurt 2/3 cups of mixed berries 1/ 4 tea spoon of ground turmeric 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon of chia seeds  1 and 1/2 cups of ice cubes Honey (to taste )

Breakfast/Brunch Ideas 03: Portabella with Creamy Omelette

This is another one of our weekend br unch favorite. We love the tender ness and juiciness of our po rtabellas , and if you like your omelette fluffy and creamy ... this is certainly something you should try!  Fairly easy and quick , this recipe serves 2 portions.  Heat a non-stick pan with butter on medium heat, and place cleaned portabella s cap side down. I like to give them a nice coat of the butter in the pan by flipping th em both ways just before leavi ng them to cook cap side down. They 'll seem pretty large n ow, but they 'll shrink in size as they get cooked and let out some water. Season with dried Italian herbs , garli c powder and lightly sprinkle some salt at the bottom of the mushroom. Cook covered for about 5-7 m inutes. Flip portabellas and let them cook covered for another 3 -4 m inutes . Once coo ked , gently remove from pan and set aside. You can use the same pan for the omelette . I was delighted to find Maria Cookies during our recent gro cery shopping at Walmart. They reminded me of how much I enjoyed having the Chocolate Cookie Cak e slices that I used to buy at a particular seller around 4 years ago at ap proximately $0 .25 for a mere 1.5" x 1.5" rough ly sized pi ece . That itty bitty piece was of course never enough for me... so, I'd end up buy ing... (we ll, I'll try and save  myself from my husband finding out where all that excess jelly belly of mine came from) .   Well , seeing these cookie s at the isle reminded me that I missed tasting them and I had to try making t his dess e rt at home.
